Fed up with Nova being all wishy-washy about him consuming populated worlds, Galactus searches for a herald that isn’t burdened by something as trifling as morals.

Infinity War tie-in.

Let’s ignore all the Infinity Bullshit and check in on Nebula instead.

Thanos would have words with Nebula. The real one, not Ravonna-pretending-to-be-Nebula.

"The spectacular arc that preceded ours, created by the unbeatable Al Ewing and a cohort of brilliant artists, had ended in the happiest of endings. The Guardians transformed into the Avengers of space. Shiny happy people holding hands. But depite the ending... the characters still lived. Time still ticked. So, as much as we loved them...

While the Guardians of the Galaxy recently relaunched with a new look and creative team, with little connection to the previous, there has been published an issue - a one-shot - featuring the team as Al Ewing left them.

Only... don't get your hopes up. Yes, those are the character designs, but the line-up is the movie cast (plus Nova). No Hercules, no Marvel Boy, no Moondragon or Phyla. It's more of an inventory story than any sort of tribute to that era of the team.

And Drax says: "Ohmigod".

Also out recently is the second issue of the current series, where Gamora and Nebula have a little sisterly bonding while negotiating with new alien life.

As with so many Marvel heroes recently, the Guardians of the Galaxy have been AWOL for a while in-universe. Now they're back! And a whole bunch more cowboy-y. Also (not in the scans here), Nebula calls Star-Lord 'flesh friend'.

"I can tell you this ... Thanos is more fun to write than any other villain, with the possible exception of the Joker." -- Ron Marz

I know it’s not Christmas for another six months but I wanted to share this for Fanart Thursday.

This does put a smile on my face. )

"I was approached by the editors, who I had worked with before. They wanted to know if I had a take on [Nebula]. Immediately I responded with wanting to examine what would make a person be so aggressively bad. Like, she is such a flaming jerk! What would drive a person to become basically a hateful monster? And I thought it would be boring if she was just 'born bad' or something like that. Too easy. I thought long and hard about what bad guy origin narratives really appealed to me, and what it boiled down to was three things.

One, a loss of innocence that is world-shattering; something that destroys the foundation for safety and trust, all-encompassing. Two, something involving either family or close friends; something that strikes at the heart of a person where they live and love. And three, in trying to regain power, they become more nasty than what hurt them. There are a million ways of doing each of those things, but almost every villain origin that I enjoy (and helps me enjoy the villain themselves more) has one or more of those elements." -- Vita Ayala
