I’ve come to embrace a lot of the fun of Venom, in that Venom is just a really fun character. The character brings a certain degree of chaos with him. When I started coming out of Donny Cates’ run, me and Ram V had this clear idea of epic scope, an epic time-travel story with elements of [Michael] Moorcock in there, The Dancers at the End of Time, things like that. But the more I wrote Venom, the more that wild fun of the character started creeping in. -- Al Ewing

It's a detour from #4, which ended with the Suicide Squad being aimed at the titular character.

He, Levi Kamei, was unaware of that manipulation by the man who employed him in his human life - but was aware of his manipulation by the Green that had chosen him to succeed Alec Holland as its avatar.

Once again, that plane of plant life drew him out of his human body and into a green one - this time, in London.

There, Constantine had also been summoned - by someone he knew personally.

He was her last resort. )

I've posted from Spider-Man's Tangled Web before but this time I've decided to share the entire series, issue by issue. For those not aware Tangled Web was an anthology title with premise that it would showcase those affected one way or another by Spider-Man. Like most anthology series, it's a mixed bag. Fortunately, when it's good, it's good. A number of the stories I would say are among the best written for the character.

First up is a story written by everyone's favorite Garth Ennis. This one's a bit surprising given Ennis's attitude towards costumed superheroes; it's a story that depicts Spider-Man as a hero who gets right back up whenever he's knocked down.

"It definitely is a strange feeling to fall in love with a greasy scumbag...but here we are.

Honestly it’s about finding his heart and showcasing that even though the book is lined with jokes and at times feels like it’s about to go off the rails - there’s a strong emotional core within it. We’ve found an anchor in Yondu that isn’t apparent right away but as you get deeper into it with his character you can see he’s in pain and it’s all an act. We’re showing a different side of who Yondu is while still channeling the things people know and love about him." -- Zac Thompson

"What I do want to say is that while, yes, this version of Yondu spun out of the films, Zac, John, and myself are making sure he has his own style, background, and character traits in the comics so it doesn’t feel like we’re just porting him from one medium to another. This was extremely important to us from the very inception of the project – to build out the new version of Yondu that he feels just as rich and multifaceted as any other character who has a titular series." -- Lonnie Nadler
