Two more years from now, we will be as far away from the release of Raiders of the Lost Ark as Raiders was from the world of 1936 that it portrayed. Yep, it's that old.

After four sequels and a TV spinoff, each (with one early exception) more poorly received than the last, the franchise seems endangered and has been labeled box office poison. But in 1982? Anything Indiana Jones-related seemed to guarantee fun.
