Balder has been captured by Loki and Malekith the Accursed.

(Sorry I skipped the fight with Fafnir. It was too good to cut down to seven and a bit pages).

War of the Realms Omega covered the new status quo for 3 main players in the War of the Realms (and the Punisher). It's essentially a set of trailers for Loki, Thor, Valkyrie and Punisher.

Who it misses out is Malekith the Accursed, who has been a total dick Last seen in War of the Realms 6 being torn limb from limb by his wild animals. However, Malekith's story wasn't finished there

The War of Realms is now over (spoilers - Malekith Lost) and I've been re-reading old Thor issues and catching up on tie-ins. Spider-man and the League of Realms was a neat story that told a nice tale of the war and had Malekith be a proper nasty bastard.

Like, the absolute worst. Not just in the "Let's start a war that devastates ten realms" or "Let's allow Dario Agger to pillage the natural resources of the Ten Realms" and not even "I don't care if the children of Alfheim are burned to a crisp. He's cruel and vicious for the sake of it and looking back, I'm pretty sure that most of his personal cruelty was directed against women. I don't really feel like posting each one of these and nobody wants a "Violence against women week", so I'll only refer to...
Malekith and Aelsa's mind control wedding in Mighty Thor #14
Creating a new Kurse also in Mighty Thor #14!
that thing with the Valkyries in War of the Realms #2.
I understand that there are a lot of women characters in Aaron's Thor, and so there is a greater chance for women to be casualties of war. The Valkyries, Freyja, have all had nasty things happen to them. then there was Aaron's clumsy attempt at female solidarity.

Malekith is a fucking nightmare )

An event years in the making, War of the Realms has...not amazed me so far. The story of Asgard and the other realms loses its specialness when it becomes another "Oh no! There's baddies on Manhattan!" Marvel crossover. The war seemed much more epic when it was War Thor fighting for children's lives or Malekith's wedding day. Wolverine and Punisher fighting dark elves just seems so dull, especially when everybody is really quiptastic.

However, I'm on board for the end of Aaron's run, so let's see how it goes.

In #1, there were two major character deaths (one of them is here). However, it's a "comic book death"

Back with a vengeance )
