Green Lantern Special 01

I've made two Green Lantern entries that follow a larger story arc about Hal questioning himself and John constantly getting the short end of the stick. The first part is here, and the second ('The List') was posted prior to that (for reasons known only to me) and can be found here. When we last left John he had been arrested for 'killing' Carol Ferris, as part of Star Sapphire's elaborate plot to make Hal miserable.

Unfortunately for John, that's not the end of his troubles...

Golden Age Wonder Woman

These are from Sensation Comics #9, 1942. Some of you may know how Wonder Woman originally got her "Diana Prince" identity. She ran into a nurse who resembled her and was coincidentally named Diana - Diana Prince - who wanted to go to South America where her fiancé was, but didn't have the money. Wonder Woman gave her the money in exchange for her identification papers, which she used to get a job in the hospital where Steve Trevor was being treated.

In this issue, the original Diana Prince, now Diana White, returns to America. Her marriage is to all appearances happy, but, well, odd. I'm sure none of you are surprised.

The Yuriness of Anita King and Hisami Hisaishi redux, pt 1 of 2

I posted these scans this time last year, on the old S_D...I figured I might as well repost them again, rather than have them lost...lost to time. *cries* Besides, I posted them for International Day of Femslash, and it's the second one, so, hey.

I'm a big fan of Hideyuki Kurata and Ran Ayanaga's Read or Dream manga, the follow-up to Read or Die - it is, in fact, my favourite manga currently commercially available in English, and in the running for my favourite ever. The entire RoD series - Die, Dream, and ROD the TV (loosely based on Dream) - is pretty full of yuri moments... For Dream/the TV, that mostly focusses on Anita...primarily her relationship with Hisami Hisaishi.

Which...is the focus of these two posts.

In reference to the rules changes since then, this post, and the second one, are a total of 28 or 29 pages (it's hard to add up the partial pages) taken from throughout volume 4 of the series, which is about 220 pages.

The Shield is a defector?

Hmmm. Canada's SUPER COMICS# 1 reprinted MLJ stories from PEP COMICS# 22, December 1941. For such a patriotic guy, the Shield doesn't seem to have objected to changing his American flag-inspired costume for one based on the Union Jack. Maybe he was just doing his part to show solidarity between the United States and Canada in this dark hour of history.. what a guy.
