Talking elsewhere about favorite Emma Frost moments, and the issue of Generation X where Emma injures a small child for great justice often comes up. However, there's another issue of Generation X that includes one of my favorite Emma moments. Generation X #25 was by Scott Lobdell and Chris Bachalo and featured Emma sacrificing herself for the sake of the children. It all seems a long time ago now.

Despite the heroic sacrifice, there's still plenty of discussion to be had about the ethics of Emma's actions, though...

For no other reason than I wanna, here's an extract from Generation X #62 by Jay Faerber and Matt Smith, where Monet had shipped off to a new school in Switzerland. Her academic career there was cut short by the unfortunate development that the teaching staff turned out to be composed almost entirely by vampires, who were killing off and turning her fellow students.

Back from when Monet had a conscience about killing and before the whitewashing. No claims about originality, though. There's a possibility that the issue might have been... just slightly influenced by a certain TV show.

were Young Justice and Generation X. And obviously with the PAD rule, YJ is a no-no but I'd like to share some of my favorite moments from Gen X early on in the run [Issues 1-20] as I've noticed there aren't a lot of posts in the tag for it. This series is also the reason I went from hating the character of Jubilee to loving her as a kid.

Hey, [personal profile] ejne7 beat me to the subtext punch this week! Is this catching on? :D?

I've recently been introduced to Generation X and the glorious snippy, contentious, intense and subtexty relationship between Jubilation Lee (who still has the single best name in all of comics) and Monet St Croix.

I love the snarking and the fighting... )

Making the pick on my favourite male character was probably a little easier for me than picking a female favourite. There's lots of characters I love, but only one I love and would love to ding round the earhole as well, which elevates this character to a special place in my heart.

I'm talking about Jonothon Evan Starsmore. Or as he's otherwise known, Chamber.

Scans from Generation X issues 1, 4, 10, 11, 41, 42, 44, 50 and Marvel Icons: Chamber #2.

First up, some context. Bastion has captured Jubilee and is trying to stripmine her mind for information regarding the X-men. One approach is to reveal to her that he's killed Cyclops and he shows her his battered and damaged visor as proof. He later returns to try and play further mind tricks on her to pry information from her. It doesn't go according to plan.

From Generation X #27, by Scott Lobdell and Chris Bachalo.

A brief, set up page from Generation X #2 and then 4 pages from Generation X #3, which finds Chamber in one of those rare moments where his awesomeness isn't tempered by his being a Jerky McJerkface elsewhere in the issue.

Back in the 1998 Generation X Annual, the Gen X kids came into conflict with the granddaddy of all vampires - Dracula. (Possibly because Dracula was pissed at Chamber for being a descendant of his old enemy, Apocalypse, but that's another story entirely.) Anyway, they didn't fare great - Chamber was plagued by nightmarish visions, Paige gets stalked in her underwear (just so you know it really is a Dracula story, presumably) and Jubilee, well, it wasn't her finest hour...

This might possibly prove to be relevant.

I haven't got a lot of Thanksgiving related scans, but I did dig up this from Generation X #23 which I originally posted back on Scans_Daily 1.0, in which Paige invites Jono back home to the Guthrie's for Thanksgiving.

It carries all the vital ingredients for a Thanksgiving story - namely arguments, angst, fallings out, people (well, okay, Jono) making huge asses of themselves and unnecessary drama.

Perfect!

Emma Frost has yet again turned-evil-only-not-really and spirited her students out of "danger" to a mansion where she brainwashes them into pliantly accepting their new circumstances and dresses one of them up as a cheerleader (I think you'll be pleasantly surprised who). No, it's not a V.C. Andrews novel, it's Generation X. I'd give you more context, but the talking frog does it for me.

The ketchup-y secret to how Emma made her millions behind the cut. )

I was going to repost the scans of Chamber vs Omega Red from Generation X #11 since they were requested, but while I was trawling through the scans I decided to pad the post out some. Some, I present to you the combat stylings of Jonothon Starsmore. Not the world's greatest master tactician, but smart enough to realise that when you're a mutant with powers, there's no reason why that can't be combined with hittting-people-with-blunt-objects-fu.

Under the cut, a selection of scans from Generation X #11, #21, #61, Uncanny X-men Annual 2001, Icons: Chamber #3 and New Warriors #9.
