Among the series getting the "resurrected issue" gimmick continuations in the Blackest Night event is the solo title of everybody's favorite cat burglar, the eponymous CATWOMAN. Her #83 hit the shelf this week, penned by Bedard and drawn by a handful of guys I've never heard of who are competent enough technically but seem to be under that weird Guillem March delusion that Selina wears heels.

One of the major players in this plot will be a shock to no one.

The other is a bit more worthy of note. )

This is just an FYI because I know that you don't all read the DW news posts: Account security and important notes
Over the past few days, Dreamwidth has come under attack by a group of trolls with ties to several hate speech organizations. These people are attempting to disrupt our business through a number of methods unless we acquiesce to their demands. Unfortunately they are threatening and harassing not only us, but many of our volunteers and contributors as well.

The chief methods being used at the moment are false accusations to our merchant processor and our upstream provider that we host child pornography. We do not. Our Terms of Service prohibits all illegal material, and any reports of such material can be made to our Terms of Service team. They've also threatened to highlight legally protected speech in an attempt to stir up a moral panic against our business. We are working with our upstream providers to make sure they're aware of these allegations as well.

As part of this organized campaign of harassment, there have been instances reported to us of phishing attempts: setting up sites that look like Dreamwidth in order to obtain users' passwords. To protect yourselves, please make absolutely certain that you are only logging in at https://www.dreamwidth.org by typing the address into your browser's bar directly. Do not log in via any link sent to you in email, no matter how much it looks like it might come from Dreamwidth.

We have been, and will continue to, do everything we can to ensure steady and uninterrupted service throughout the current situation, but please bear with us if we experience any rocky periods. If anything happens, we will update our @dreamwidth Twitter account with status information as soon as possible.

We want you guys to know that we're incredibly thankful for our community, contributors, and everyone who takes the time to create with us. We'll be doing everything we can to make sure you guys can keep building the kind of community that makes all of this worth it.

So [personal profile] mad and I were talking about She-Ra over on NoScans, and she wondered what a Black Lantern She-Ra would look like. "Such a shame that we will never see her glory," she said. "Wait," said I. "There is a way - we can start a meme! A meme for drawn, painted, shopped or crafted Black Lanterns from all universes, comics and otherwise!" Then she called me brilliant, set up an altar and started worshiping. Ok, that last part may have been an exaggeration. Anyway!

Draw (or shop) Black Lanterns Meme

BTW, those of you who are expecting to be called out, consider it done. WHERE'S MAH LANTERNS!?

So apparently in an upcoming episode of Smallville, there's a magic comic book that turns people into superheroes. I know, don't worry, it probably won't even be the stupidest thing that episode. But I guess it turns Lois into Wonder Woman?

I guess in the Smallville universe, Wonder Woman is a comic book character? I'd say that would make it weird for Diana to show up in a future episode, but keep in mind, this is the show where 'Fortress of Solitude' both refers to a Kryptonian sanctuary at the North Pole where Clark goes to talk to his father, and to Clark's barn.

And is it just me, or does Lois have a better costume than the actual Wonder Woman? WTF, costuming department, from 'Superman' you get 'the Matrix has you' but from 'Wonder Woman' you get 'she should wear badass armor'?

For legality, how does Wonder Woman start an orgy? )

...as discussed here

To keep you going until the other side of the cut just speculate on what THIS might be all about when bad guys line up against the Teen Wonder...

This is written by Mike W Barr in 1983, in "old school" mode, which means it's a story with a beginning a middle and an end, "done in one", with no need for angst or ghastly foreshadowing. It's also pencilled by Curt "I probably drew Superman more often professionally than anyone else in HISTORY" Swan so drink it up, it's some goooood stuff!
Also starring the Ductile Detective! )

Two pages from Fantastic Four: Dark Reign

Though this may not surprise you, I really liked some of what Dark Reign did. The designs on the Alternate Fantastic Four and their universes were really cool, plus the Bridge plot that led to the Council (which I adore).

The Hero Initiative is a charity whose ongoing mission is, in their own words;

The Hero Initiative creates a financial safety net for comic creators who may need emergency medical aid, financial support for essentials of life, and an avenue back into paying work. Since inception, the Hero Initiative has been fortunate enough to benefit over 40 creators and their families with over $400,000 worth of much-needed aid, fueled by your contributions! It's a chance for all of us to give back something to the people who have given us so much enjoyment.

Marvel recently donated 100 blank-covered copies of Wolverine: Weapon X #1 to the Initiative, and they got some of the best and brightest artists to donate their efforts to produce unique covers which could then be auctioned off.

Some of the covers are in their current auction here and a complete gallery of the covers can be seen here.

And for legality here are a few of the covers themselves.
Some great fun here! )
