G.I. Joe Vs the Transformers #2

When last we left off Cobra had discovered the location of the lost Ark of the Autobots, and reprogrammed/brainwashed the Transformers aboard to serve them, after their initial attack a team is created to combat this new threat: G.I. Joe.
This issue is the calm before the storm.

I wanted to post both of Billy's deaths but comixology does not have the final part of DDP's World War III storyline. In it Billy is captured by Cobra, and the Commander gives him the, "join or die," option. Billy tries to assassinate his father, but instead takes out a body double, and as Billy dies from a toxin, Cobra Commander gloats how he has won over his own humanity: for he loved Billy once, and now he feels nothing.
Posted below is one page from G.I. Joe America's Elite #34 which shows the ceremony with which that Cobra Commander treats his son's body, and then how the Hama-verse version reacts to news of his son's passing in GI Joe A Real American Hero #172, and #174.

When last we left Megatron he had captured Dr. Biggles-Jones, and Cobra Commander had been left with a fraction of the promised Cybertronian tech, but a fraction that could still be dangerous in his hands.

Last time Scarlett had been stabbed in the chest by Snake-eyes, and the Cobra Ninjas were, correctly, suspecting her of still working for GI Joe cause Snake-eyes never misses. But since there are more Transformers fans here than Joe fans we'll have to side skirt her story for the next couple issues (though don't worry we'll get back to her), cause here's Megatron.

My mouth dropped a bit in reading the most recent issue of GI Joe so I thought I'd share with you 4 pages from that issue, and 7 from the preceding one.
That cover is funny, it's symbolic nothing even close to that happens, but it's funny.
Following their failed and disastrous attempt to take the Pit, Cobra is slithering underground, the Crimson Guards are resuming their original mission of infiltrating American life and manipulating the system from the inside... but before Cobra Commander switches to stealthier tactics there's a loose end to take care of. A loose end named Destro.
( The bad guy trinity of Cobra, Zartan, and Destro are about to have it out. )

This Commander of Cobra is less fervent and strident than most other versions; understated suits make the majority of his clothing. He's not had much of a presence in what we've seen of Cobra's operations so far, preferring to leave that sort of thing up to the Baroness or the Crimson Twins.
His voice and will are still felt, however; he's chastised Cobra naval officers, lost a bit of his temper with Zartan's clone, and mocked the clan McCullen's command of Latin.
Until this month's G.I Joe: Cobra II (#10), he hasn't really taken the opportunity to take center stage.
( When he does, though, he starts making up for missed time.. )
