This was absolutely positively not reminded to me by colonel_green's Agent's of Atlas post.

[insanejournal.com profile] lightbrigade's post reminded me of a story that ran through the Green Lantern, Green Arrow and The Flash comics many years ago entitled 'Three of a Kind.' It was essentially about the three younger heroes bonding on an Alaskan cruise (and fighting some villains along the way). This leads to some interesting speculation on life, love and if Connor is still a virgin.

This comic was about the backstory of Baron Soontir Fel. After Vader's death, he was considered to be the best pilot in the Empire. He gets mentioned from time to time elsewhere - Thrawn recruited and cloned him, he showed up briefly in the New Jedi Order, his son became one of Jaina Solo's love interests, and in the "Legacy" comics the Emperor is a Fel. But he's at his biggest in the Rogue Squadron comics, where he was first introduced.

It was a special forty-one page comic.

Newsarama have posted a preview to Chris "Mini-Marvels" Giarrusso TPB collection of G-Man, about Mikey G,  fledgling superhero and otherwise fairly ordinary (up to a point) kid, with annoying big brother, chores and everything.

Click on the link below to be taken to the rather wonderful preview of an awesome comic!

Chris also has a first rate website. Click here for help identifying the characters above.

If you liked min-Marvels, then I think you'll love this.... There's a "Calvin and Hobbes" feel to it (without a stuffed tiger), in Mikey's occasionally weird, occasionally hyper literal view of the world.

Previously on Four Swords+...

One Link was not enough. (And Zelda was kidnapped, but that's not important. Yet.) So meet the Links!

It's all fun and games on the road: sparring, studying, and making Red do all the cooking. But then they discover something that threatens to tear their young group apart: They discover girls.

On the next Four Swords+...

And Other Inappropriate Uses Of Four Links

Ever since it was announced that Jeff Parker would be scribing the Dark Reign: The Hood mini I've been wondering -- wondering with a sense of terrorized fascination, I should add -- what it was going to be like. Would Parker be able to make the Dormammu!Hood actually seem like a worthy and viable contender to be the Sorcerer Supreme?

CBR has an eight-page preview up.

I now have my answer, and it's a resounding silence fraught with puzzlement and horror.

Because you know what I didn't expect from Jeff Parker's work on this mini?

Straight up racial stereotyping that slides down the slippery slope straight into the ditch of racist tropes.

...Wow. You know what? Kyle Hotz's art only makes this worse.

I can't even believe that Parker wrote this. I love Parker's choice of characters for this; the liberal use of cracky B- and C-listers is very much appreciated. But I really do think that he's made some poor choices as a writer in this particular sequence.

First post on InsaneJournal, please let me know if I do something wrong.

A post the other day reminded me of The Books of Magic, and I noticed that there are no tags here for Tim Hunter! I wanted to remedy this, and thought that people in this community might enjoy part of The Books of Magic Annual #3: A Thousand Deaths of Timothy Hunter.

These 8 pages from the 39 page annual show a story about a Timothy Hunter in a somewhat familiar universe (well, actually two Timothy Hunters, but neither of them are the main Timothy Hunter character).

Top Ten #12 explains the deal.

This issue also contains a scene folks who are sick and tired of DC's holier-than-thou "killing is always wrong no matter what the circumstances" attitude will appreciate.

I only got one comment expressing interest, but I'll try reposting a couple of my old WW posts here and see what kind of response I get. If people are interested, I'll repost one a day until they're all here. I'll be posting them backwards, since I'm harvesting them from my own LJ.

Oh, also: can someone please repost that manga drawing of a guy with kittens strapped to his chest? I know I saved it to my hard drive, but I can't find it. Classics like that should be kept in circulation.

This issue of Wonder Woman was published in 1946.

I find that I don't have as many snarky remarks to make about most of the issues from this collection. They carefully chose the least whacked out stories. They also chose the ones with the least bondage. Not that there still wasn't plenty, but when I later heard people making jokes about all the bondage, I thought they were being silly. Then the Archive Editions started being published, and I realized they were right all along.

Captain Britain and MI13 will be ending its run in July; sad, but, given the sales, not unexpected.

Since I've recently been in a reposting mood, here are a couple of my favourite scenes from over the series that got lost when the original scans_daily went down.
