An ongoing sub-plot teases a return.

I’m not going to tag who is returning, because that would spoil everything.

GREEN LANTERN EMERALD DAWN #1 was the start of the origin for the Post-Crisis Hal Jordan. It had Hal serving 90 days on a drunk driving charge, and also established a lot of the "Hal Jordan: Screw-up!" characterization that was very common for a while. Still is, in some ways.

Story by Jim Owsley, Gerard Jones and Keith Giffen. Art by MD Bright.

GREEN LANTERN: EMERALD DAWN I and II was the post-Crisis origin of Hal Jordan as Green Lantern. It added the odd "Hal Jordan was convicted of drunk driving and served 90 days" that was dropped by INFINITE CRISIS. But it put elements to Sinestro's background that have continued to this day, although rarely expanded upon.

"Yeah, our first arc will add something that I hope will be fairly significant to the Green Lantern mythology. We aren’t going off on some wild tangent, though. We’re very much building on what Geoff has done during his run." - Robert Venditti

Something Dan DiDio said in September has blended with something from THE FINAL NIGHT.

"Heroes shouldn’t have happy personal lives. They are committed to being that person and committed to defending others at the sacrifice of their own personal interests.

That’s very important and something we reinforced. People in the Bat family their personal lives basically suck. Dick Grayson, Bruce Wayne, Tim Drake, Barbara Gordon and Kathy Kane. It’s wonderful that they try to establish personal lives, but it’s equally important that they set them aside. That is our mandate, that is our edict and that is our stand."

Four pages from GL: NG, where arc villain Relic strikes a major blow to the Lantern defenses.

C is for cookie, and S is for spoilers!

Look at the stars. No hope in sight. )

Food for Thought: With something like this, there's bound to be casualties, but when was the last a time a new villain effectively established himself as a threat without killing anyone?

Having gone to my LCS today to pick up a few books I decided to give a flip through of the newest Green Lantern issue. I was very happy to see my favorite bibliophile return.

Some interesting story bits happened this issue but really, I picked it up for her so here's some of her.

She loves her stories! )

I love the Larfleeze parts, but am still on the fence about so much of the Star Sapphire's "version" of love.
