Rather than a series of unconnected stories, this fifth annual DC Pride book will feature a framing story, with different characters having their own episode within it.

From the Press Release:

DC Pride 2025 brings DC’s heroes together when a century-old tavern, the center of queer life in Gotham City, unexpectedly announces its imminent closure. It’s a huge loss to the community, and generations of patrons return to pay respects to a space they’ve endowed with entire lifetimes of memories, wishes and dreams—including Alan Scott, the Green Lantern. Alan returns, for one last time, to the place he fell for his first love, Johnny Ladd, to touch the wall on which they carved the symbol of their love, to remember the days before everything went to hell for them…and to say goodbye.

But love is a kind of magic, and, in Alan’s experience, magic can take on a life of its own. Before anyone knows it’s happening, heroes, villains, and civilians alike from across the DCU with powerful ties to this mysterious place—the Question, Midnighter and Apollo, Harley Quinn, Green Lantern Jo Mullein, Bunker, Connor Hawke, and Blue Snowman among them—find themselves spirited away to strange, alternate worlds where everything they ever thought they wanted can be theirs…but at what cost?

So, the last issue was less about the monster-fighting than it was Superman preparing for his proposal to Lois Lane. In this second issue Kong does not even appear, but we get an insight into the Bat-fmaily dynamics in this Elseworlds as they deal with a monstr attacking Gotham City. A giant, sonic-based bat, of course. What possible weak points could it have?

Since we have relatively few new comic books right now, how about some coverage of new comic book derivatives!

"Stargirl", the next live action series has just had it's first episode released on DC Universe for those interested. It's had some good reviews and I like the idea of the Cosmic Rod having a bit of a mind of it's own.... sort of a Toothless to Courtney's Hiccup perhaps?

Also, in a surprise move, Batwoman has lost it's Batwoman, as Ruby Rose has announced she won't be returning to the role of Kate Kane for the already greenlit second season. It has been confirmed the role will be recast, and intends to cast from the LGBTQA+ acting community. That seems a shame, I haven't seen too many episodes because I keep forgetting what timeslot it's on in the UK, but I liked what I saw of her performance.

Season 2 of "Doom Patrol" has a release date: 25th June on DC Universe and HBO Max!

Season 2 of "Umbrella Academy" will be released on Netflix on 31st July, confirmed by way of a fun trailer shot during lockdown

Neil Gaiman attracted a lot of good vibes from the release of the casting for the upcoming audio version of the Sandman comics. Which will feature James McAvoy as Morpheus, Kat Dennings as Death, Michael Sheen as Lucifer, Andy Serkis as Matthew the Raven, Taron Egerton as John Constantine, Reginald D. Hunter as John J'onzz, NB performer Justin Vivian Moore as Desire and Riz Ahmed as the Corinthian, oh and Bebe Neuwirth as a Siamese Cat. We'll also hear British character actors Sue Johnston as Unity Kinkaid, Paterson Joseph as the Demon Chronzon, Josie Lawrence as Mad Hettie, Arthur Darvill as William Shakespeare, and Miriam Margolyes as Despair. (That last could be FASCINATING, I'd never have thought of her for the role, given the sheer energy she brings to every role)

The first release in July, will include the first three volumes of Sandman; Preludes & Noctures, The Doll's House, and Dream Country.

Late addition - Henry Cavill just confirmed that the Zack Snyder version of Justice League will be released next year

Killer Croc, to the shock of his comrades, had driven Melmoth's blade into " Frank. "

Croc turned to the Last King of Everything and told him to go ahead with taking the last two innocent lives he needed, in the water of Slaughter Swamp.

As the man once of the Sheeda gloated about the culmination of his multiverse-saving work, Croc kneeled beside his victim: " Stay down, Frank. Just stay down. "

" I'll be needing that dagger..

" .. did you think I'd forget? Be distracted?! "

Melmoth advanced, having perceived that the betrayal was staged to get Croc into his trust: " Did you think just a single evisceration could fool a king as old as history? "

" It wasn't yer trust we wanted, yer grace. "

He returned Melmoth's blade to its owner. It went KA-SCHLERK! )

#4'd ended with Melmoth, former king of the Sheeda, kicking off the battle.

He'd fled, leaving his summoned proxies - the Monster League of Evil, alternate-universe loose riffs on Mister Mind's Monster Society of Evil - to take on his enemies.

They, Frankenstein and the six others against Melmoth, went at the League.

Frankenstein grappled with his opposite. )

#3'd ended on Kate Kane, Batwoman.

#4 opened on her in Gotham's Monstertown, facing Orca - and then Killer Croc - of the six in question.

The other four - Frankenstein, the Red Phantom, Lady Clayface, and the vampire Andrew Bennett - appeared to her, after the first two had caught her attention.

" Frankenstein. I see you found friends. "

He corrected her. )

It's been too long since I did one of these, but this is an example that was too much fun not to share, as I had the pleasure of sort of starting something! :) (plus it makes a nice showcase of an artist I like)

Luciano Vecchio is a professional Argentinian artist whose work on Ironheart has been deeply appealling.

He has a somewhat cartoony style which isn't too common these days (shades of Alan Davis perhaps?), and with a complete lack of fear of actually making comics look brightly coloured.

So when he opened up single-figure commissions, you can imagine who I might have wanted him to have a go at! :) (Yeah, not Robin, though it was tempting... as was a Saint Seiya character (which is still big in Argentina) maybe another time!)

Instead I went for my favourite selfsoulfriends, and bot am I glad I did!

And then it sort of snowballed... or maybe Cannonballed would be a better term :) )

In the end, I hope we make something beautiful, brutal, and defiantly queer. I hope we show you elements of Batwoman and her world you’ve never seen before, had never even imagined, and push her to heights and drive her to depths that make you delight and despair for her. I hope we do justice to her legacy, and create the book I wish had existed when I was young and growing up.

Variety has announced that actor Ruby Rose has been cast as Kate Kane, aka Batwoman

NBC confirms that she will be introduced in this years CW hero crossover event. and is planned to get her own spin off series (That's more than The Ray managed)

Ruby Rose is a genderfluid (she prefers feminine pronouns), out lesbian, who is perhaps best known for her role "Orange is the New Black" and is about to be in "The Meg".

OitNB is not a show I follow, so I have little idea as to her as an actress. Anyone more familiar want to comment?.
