I never did read what was in the captions. People act and they talk. If it needs to be narrated, something is wrong. I try in my comics plots to make the story apparent in the pictures. Then, I add what words are needed to keep the whole shebang moving along. The less words I have to write, the better. It totally makes my teeth hurt when the artist puts me in the position of having to write dialog to explain the action. -- Larry Hama

Welcome once again, to the major comics crossover event that made readers say, "...Wait, What?"
We're throwing comics at the wall here to see what sticks. (why yes, I have just finished a Portal 2 binge.)
Combining (broadly) the Doom Patrol and X-Force, two misfit bands of tragic mutants led by a rather unbalanced, near-sociopathic Futurist gets us...

( Those misfits, misfits of science (ha)... )
14 1/3 pages behind the cut, 7 from X-Patrol #1 and 7 1/3 from Exciting X-Patrol #1.

Greetings True B- wait, that's some other guy's line.
Hello again, S_D!
Back in the Sunshine State from the Lone Star State, and despite the technical equality of those nicknames, they are not environmentally equivalent in reality (just check the weather).
In this edition of our trek through the crack-verse that was Amalgam Comics, we see what happens when you combine the devil-may-care bravado of Tony Stark with the devil-may-care bravado of Hal Jordan to get...

( Has he lost his mind? Can he see or is he blind? )
7 1/3 pages from Iron Lantern #1 behind the cut.

Time once again for a dip into the amazing-ly crack-eriffic Amalgam Universe!
When last we left our Merry Metamutants, they were... well, not doing too well.
Sad to say, after a timeskip of unknown length, they aren't actually doing better, but in fact worse.

( That's great/ it starts with an earthquake/ birds, snakes and airplanes/ (and Lenny Bruce is not afraid)... )

We last saw Mags admitting the android Magnetic Men were the closest thing to his family since the Brotherhood (given they are the Brotherhood dealing with brain-in-a-jar syndrome).
So, what's the best gift a proud poppa can give his new family? Top billing!

( How not to be a helicopter parent, Step 1: Don't let your kids live on a helicopter... )
7 and 1/3 pages from the 24 page The Magnetic Men Featuring Magneto #1.

And as an additional post for today, the absolute LAMEST Amalgam single-issue special out of my entire collection. A real example of "Dear God, Why?" in comics publishing.

To complement
glprime's excellent Amalgam Comics entries, here's possibly the strangest book they put out, in terms of out-there combinations:

Generation Hex was an amalgamation of mutant teen team Generation X with Jonah Hex and various other DC Wild West characters.

Keeping up with the project while I've got some free time.
On this entry, I'm not even going to try and make sense of the story in truncated format, because that's nearly impossible; every PANEL is practically a scene change. Stuff moves incredibly fast, and virtually a third of the entire comic is dramatic entrances. Combining the pulp, daredevil heroics of the Challengers of the Unknown with the super-science and cosmic adventure of the Fantastic Four gives us...

(more like Challengers of the CRACK-tastic)
I encourage you to listen to this, as you read through.
( They'll save with a mighty hand, every man, every woman, every child with a mighty flash! )
