nevermore999: STEPH IS BATGIRL AND INSPIRATIONAL TO YOUNG GIRLS ISN'T SHE AWESOME (Default)
[personal profile] nevermore999
A while ago, schmevil gave a prompt for Black Lantern characters. I sketched out a Black Lantern Spoiler and a Black Lantern Cass and Steph Batgirl immediately, but have JUST gotten around to inking and coloring.

I also bring you our three Batgirls (Babs, Cass and Steph) in class together- inspired by a panel from Batgirl #1. Finally, a Wondy/Lois/Selina slash comic (safe for work) annnnd a page from Batgirl #7.

Mediocre fanart ahoy! )

A couple of scans I meant to include in my last post, featuring the work of Phil Jimenez

Starting with this shot from Infinite Crisis, where Brother Eye's orbiting camera's clearly share a certain empathy with it's creator's habits...

Click below for the most wonderfully gratuitous shot of them all....

Gratuitous is a VERY relative term, thankfully! )

And some fanart I'll probably regret in the morning )

Apparently there's this little debate going on about Boy Wonder behinds and thighs.

It all started with this thread. Then I posted something about Jason Todd's behind and thighs here and[personal profile] icon_uk replied in kind on Mr. Sexy Ass Dick Grayson here and here, with[personal profile] ficticons jumping into the melee with some awesome stuff here on Tim Drake and Jason.

So I had to consult my adorkable friend, theminiwheat, who's an expert on all things Jason and his body parts, to get her help on what to include here. I included one piece of fan art, the rest are all comic images. Fan art may be a little nsfw due to gore.
So hopefully now THIS rests my case. ;-)
Enjoy!

Oh those thighs...  )

Some badass lookin' fan art )

Today, Will Eisner is best remembered for the Spirit. But what many fans don't realize is that he was pretty prolific during the Golden Age, creating loads of characters (costumed or otherwise) for several different publishers. In this series of posts, we will touch on one of Eisner's more obscure creations - a femme fatale known only as Madame Doom.

Many Faces of Madame Doom

Madame Doom was a love interest and the antagonist to Black X (also known as Black Ace), one of earliest (if not the earliest) comic book spies. He was also one of Eisner's earliest creations, debuting all the way back in 1938 on the pages of Feature Funnies #13. Black X was originally Richard Spencer, a Washington bureaucrat who faked his own death in order to fight criminals and foreign spies under the cover of anonymity and plausible deniability as an agent of Department of Defense. The comic made no bones about the fact that the work Black X did was very dangerous, and Department of Defense was perfectly willing to leave him in the cold if things went south. Black X was assisted by Batu, his telepathic Indian manservant. I haven't been able to find an issue where they first met, so I have no idea why Batu would take orders from some none-powered white guy who, btw, often took his abilities for granted, but that's a whole other tangent.

In any case, now that the I got the background info out of the way, allow me to present the very first appearance of Madame Doom.

The following story originally appeared in Smash Comics #4. Writing and art by Will Eisner.

Sexual tension, sabotage, crypto-Nazis, shirtless secret agents, disguises, murder and did we mention sexual tension? (9 pages under the cut) )

Hey folks , since last we spoke we picked out some categories that you so helpfully suggested and now it’s time for you to nominate a winner in these categories.
Under the cut you will find categories and guidelines.

Everything you need to know (but were afraid to ask) )

Next time we post, it’s gonna be time to vote, so look over the options. This post is made both here and at noscans and nominees will be taken from both communities.

Newsarama has the teaser panel from Buffy #34. As the threads and ideas in Season 8 come together towards resolution, this is becoming more and more fun. It is so close to feeling like the show.

Thunder, thunder, thunder.... Hoooooo!!!  )

Ahoy, kiddies. There be dragons here. Or spoilers (without images from the book itself) galore here.

Batman and Robin #10 came out, and to quote the Joker in The Dark Knight, "You do not disappoint".

I must acknowledge the serious homework others have done on behalf this topic, so here is the link to the Quinnhop, among others, over at the CBR boards. He's put most of this together as to where Morrison is using previous stories as springboards to this tale.

DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT READ Batman and Robin #10!!! No scans from the comics itself behind the cut, but plenty of spoilers.

You have been warned.

Holy revelations, Batman! )

"Kato 2"

I'm a big fan of the Green Hornet concept. He's blood-related to the Lone Ranger, and this is never, ever mentioned. He's a Batman who has fun and levity, his vigilante alter ego is presented as a villain. He punks out the real baddies by pretending to be badder than them, and wins the day for good! He has a good relationship with his valet. He dresses really well.

The Green Hornet mythos has a really poor track record on dealing with race, when by "race" you mean "people who aren't white americans". Kato, the extremely capable chauffeur/valet/co-member of the team that makes "the Green Hornet" has been Chinese, Filipino and Japanese. That's insensible, and no good.

The best-known Kato, and the best-known iteration of the Green Hornet set-up, is the 1967 version; Bruce Lee's first American role. He aces it, and it's a shame they made him tone down his physical capabilities for the role. In the Green Hornet comics of the eighties, of which there were a few, this version of Kato is known as "Hayashi Kato" (OH WOW GUYS THAT'S REAL CHINESE NICE WORK ON ALLEVIATING THE PROPERTY'S HISTORY OF CASUAL RACISM). Sometimes. Sometimes that's his son, I think.

So as far as I can make out, and according to wikipedia, the "Kato" of the comic I am about to show you is supposed to be the Bruce Lee version. It bloody isn't, but it's supposed to be.

That is one of the many things that makes this the worst comic I own.

This is--

Photobucket

I don't know why he's  )

So if anyone has issue 2/2 of this book, howsabout you enlighten us all as to what happens? We're dying to know.

How does this compare to the Green Hornet books out this year?
