Love comics and comic scans? Want to talk about them with other people? Then you're in the right place!

We like to think we're a friendly group here, but we do have some rules. If you've just joined this community, we hope you've at least read the Userinfo by now – you'll want to check out the FAQs below as well. If you're a returning member, welcome back! Please reread the rules and FAQs anyway: we do make occasional changes and you'll want to keep up to date.

Our community ethos is one of mutual respect and striving to provide an atmosphere which is LGBT-friendly, anti-racist, anti-ableist, woman-friendly and otherwise discrimination and harrassment free. We don't allow personal attacks towards each other or comics creators, but the mod team encourages members to call out oppressive or discriminatory behavior or texts.

[FAQ] Definitions of important terminology.

DEFINITIONS of IMPORTANT TERMINOLOGY.

This terminology is meant to help you understand the rules, in particular the posting guidelines.

Recent Comics. A recent comic is defined as being either a) The most recent issue of a comic or b) a comic that has come out in the last month. When a comic no longer meets one of these criteria, it is no longer classed as a recent comic. Previews are included as scans from a recent comic.

NSFW. Standing for "not safe for work," this is a colloquial term referring to graphic content. Although the term is now thrown around regardless of people's working situations, the etymology comes from the concept of this not being the kind of thing you want your boss to catch you looking at. Obviously, many bosses wouldn't want you to look at any comics when you should be working, but when we say NSFW, we're talking about nudity, sex and sexual situations, and extreme violence/gore. Think hard R/NC-17.

Spoilers. Loosely defined as information that gives away the plot or the "fun stuff" about a story. Practically speaking, everybody has slightly different definitions of what spoils a story for them, so here's our policy: all inside content of a comic two months old or younger is a spoiler. All solicitation information is spoilery. However, comics covers are not spoilers.

Posts with spoilery content should be lj-cut, but if you would like to comment with spoilers in an otherwise non-spoilery post, you can use this handy-dandy black-out text created by kiseki:

Posting a request is no guarantee of its being filled, but request posts will be archived so that members can look through comments from previous months and answer them if they so desire.

Sorry, but we can't take your job/bedtime/afternoon outing into account - everyone lives in different time zones. Posts with major violations such as NSFW/spoilery/outsized images outside an lj-cut or too many recent scans are subject to immediate deletion without warning.

Wonder Woman #41 Solicit

Breaking in the new Comm with some Bokurano Part 1

Bokurano a manga and anime series that can be called one of the most depressing things created by human hands.

To quote from the TV Tropes Page on the series:

“Some describe it as "like Evangelion, but even more depressing and angsty." Others would say that doesn't go far enough and that Bokurano makes Evangelion look like the Carebears.”

So as a welcoming present to the new Scans Daily I am going to take you through this series one chapter at a time. Please note that while this post and probably the next couple are clean enough to be left public later posts in this series shall be friend locked due to content. This chapter has 35 pages so if I understand the rules correctly that allows me 11.5 pages to post. Remember to read manga right to left.

Before this lovely DreamWidth community, we had an old one on LiveJournal. There, frequent bits of a certain series were posted often.

This series, a 12-issue maxi, redefined what we consider to be superhero comic books. Despite the writer's frequent proof that he hates superheroes, none of that was apparent here, only true passion and a unique voice that has never been seen before or since. Composed of unlikely 'heroes', it's been the subject of much fen love for long after it ended. It has absolutely beautiful art, and unique coloring decisions. The idea of heroes working with the government ... it really took that one and blew it out of the park.

All the pre-flight checks have been done, the crack is up to capacity, so we'd like to welcome you on board Scans_Daily 3.0 at Dreamwidth.

Before we officially declare the community open for posting, we have a few people to thank.

Firstly, mark and denise of Dreamwidth. Mark put in an incredible amount of work behind the scenes for us, ensuring that the import of the community was possible and went through smoothly, while Denise was always helpful during the initial stages when we talked about migrating here. We'd like to thank them for going above and beyond to welcome the community here and for answering all our many questions.

There are also a number of community members to thank for their help with the move across: stubbleupdate, parsimonia (AKA mad at Dreamwidth), and foxhack for writing previous FAQs which we've shamelessly cannibalized, and kingrockwell for providing suggestions and input on the Walkthrough. We'd also like to thank foxfirefey for help with tweaking the layout. We also have to thank all our many volunteers who are the unsung heroes of the community, and thanks to those who've stepped forward during the move offering further assistance.

Of the mods, skalja must be thanked for her especially hard work updating the FAQs.

Just a couple of minor issues still to be resolved - all posts and links should be functional, but there may be a few technical glitches as we iron things out with Dreamwidth. If you encounter any problems, please let us know via dailyscans[at]gmail[dot]com.

Currently members cannot edit their imported posts using OpenID, but that should be resolved this week at the next Dreamwidth code push.

Before people busy posting, we'd suggest they take a look over our revised userinfo and the FAQ Masterlist. While we haven't been any major overhauls, there are a few tweaks to the posting gudelines to take advantage of Dreamwidth's functionality, particularly the option to set Age Restrictions on NSFW material.

And now, without further ado, we'd like to declare the new Scans_Daily open for posting. We would like to declare this a special WEEK OF CELEBRATION, where we encourage our members to post all those things that make Scans_Daily... special. The perfect opportunity to post that those cracktastic scans, that slash, context is for the weak, funny porn and whatever else you feel will scar us all for life entertain the community!

My Comic AMVS

Being a comic book nerd, I collect a lot of comics. So much, that I can make Music videos of them. Using WindowsMovieMaker is bit hard, as it's a pain to deal with the problems, like how an entire Project-File can fail if the sources are gone, and  such. Here are the two I have so far.
