How he deals with the most contrary and determined patient to ever exist, one Baron Klaus Wulfenbach, ruler of Europa. There's a reason why this man is the ironclad head of the best hospital on an entire continent full of mad scientists, and this is it. Six pages from two volumes (yes, I'm cheating on length again).

You are a terrible patient! )

At Comic-Con's Fables panel, when asked if there would be any more crossovers between FABLES and JACK OF FABLES in the future, Willingham and Sturges' answer was a firm no. They said upcoming issues of JACK would make it obvious why.

Now the latest issue (#46) is out, and it looks like this is what they were talking about. What happens this issue doesn't make future crossovers *impossible*, but it certainly makes it very difficult to ever do another one.

In which Kelda gets her mojo back, and we see where Bill, Son of Bills got all his awesome. Four pages from Thor #609. Kelda has come to Broxton to tell Bill's parents of their son's death in Latveria, when they're interrupted by the Siege.

Whatever happens, I shall surely deserve. )
Perfect. On all counts. I haven't been a fan of Thor in the past, but the Asgard/Broxton and Bill/Kelda stuff has sold me on the title, and this is why.

Yeah, I'm outta here.
I'll miss the comics. I'll miss the fun.
Some of the other stuff, I won't miss.
Vaya con dios, and clear skies.

And laughter rises from the communicator. Perhaps mad, perhaps not. )

A few pages from issue #5 of the Marvel UK title Dragons Claws. Death's Head was just being repositioned as a solo star after initially being created for the UK Transformers comic and had a couple of guest slots on the way to the relaunch in his own American format title.

This is one of them - after The Doctor (yes, from Doctor Who, who became a semi-regular thorn in Death's Head side) dumped him in the year 8162, bounty hunter freelance peacekeeping agent Death's Head is employed by a rival gang to subdue the violent Jones Boys. Unfortunately, Dragon's Claws - a team of government enforcers - have also been sent to do the same job.

Why is this moment perfect? Because even when demonstrating epic badassery, the one and only thing Death's Head is interested in is his bottom line.

One of the best things about Alan Moore's WildCATs run was the character TAO, a superhumanly intelligent character who you could genuinely believe was supermanly intelligent.

Genius types are nothing new in superhero stories. You have your Mr. Fantastics, Brainiac 5s, Lex Luthors, and whatnot going back decades, but writers never give any indication of their brilliance other than having them pull out pieces of deus ex machinery as the plot demands. How lazy. So leave it to Moore to, in a few pages, do a better job of portraying superhuman intelligence than those other writers managed in all those decades.

In this scene, from issue 33, TAO is cornered by an enemy who could crush him like a bug. What does he do? He literally talks his opponent into a psychotic breakdown.

Awww Yeah! Tiny Titans 30 was pretty good.

We see Kid Flash mess up everyone's hair by running so fast and we get Ambush Bug and Cyborg have a talk about continuity.

Plus a bald Conner and a new character (as far as I know) named Peek-A-Boo. She has super speed and can disappear.

3 pages from The Spectre Vol. 4 #19 by John Ostrander and Norm Breyfogle. I wasn't really a fan of the Hal Jodan Spectre series but it did give us this awesome Darkseid moment.

I've posted this before, but I consider it the Joker's best line (not counting anything from the various live-action and animated movies). From JOKER: LAST LAUGH #6.

This is part one of a two part Perfect Moment. They're by different artists, different writers, but both represent pivotal moments

This was originally planned to be part of my "The Original origin of the Original non-Original Robin" series on the history of Mk1 Jason Todd, but since I haven't gotten around to posting one of those for a long, long time, I thought I'd short circuit the process for this.

This is from New Teen Titans 39

And when I say I've outgrown this costume... )
