Alpha Flight #0.1

While it may be slightly overshadowed this week by the release of a few other big-ticket comics, such as an issue of Avengers, Greg Pak, Fred Van Lente, and Ben Oliver have released a "point one" issue of their new run on Alpha Flight.

I have no strong opinions on Alpha Flight as a group, aside from when I was eight and an issue of John Byrne's run on the book scared the hell out of me (it was the one with a woman with a mouth for a face, if that means anything to you), but I flipped through this issue in the store based on Pak and Van Lente's names. I am now somewhat convinced that they A) read Scans Daily, and B) pander to it.

My question is:

What DC superheroes (if any) have teleportation as a superpower?

Marvel has tons: Cloak, Blink, Magik, and my 2nd favorite X-man Nightcrawler!

But for DC my mind draws blanks. I suppose Zantanna could with magic or Dr. Fate but that's not really a superpower. I think there was a villain or something named Warp but he could be from Marvel...

How much can one Hulk be hated?

In terms of the Red Hulk, you've no doubt already figured out the answer.

Parker's Hulk run certainly has, its Scorched Earth arc having Rulk take it on the chin from Iron Man, Thor, and Namor. It's also realized that if you want to make a character viable beyond the events of his creation (despite Incredible's upcoming conclusion, Hulk promises to be predominantly "all red" for a while yet.. Rulk and Red She-Hulk? Definitely a familial connection..), you've got to draw him away from it.

To that end, it's been cranking out all-new antagonists since March, four deathly deadly terrors with their own reasons to see Rulk dead: the living weapon Omegex, the vengeful soldier Fortean, the creative mastermind Zero/One, and the haunting Hyderabadian spectre known as the Black Fog.

It's wrapped up those acts of creation with this month's #33, to take Rulk off to space; if future solicits are any indication, it won't be coming back to them for a few months at the least. Still, Parker's done a nice job dropping a few new toys into the box, and I'm eagerly anticipating his picking them up again.

(A note: These're pages from Hulk #30.1-33, none of which exceed the 7/21 split; only 4 from this week's #33 are below, for those who need to know that sort of thing.)

So for those of you who don't already know, there's a new Tintin movie coming up. While of course I have a healthy amount of skepticism of how well it well turn out, it does have some impressive big-name talent behind it. And there's also a new trailer to check out:

And while I'm still skeptical, my first reaction to the trailer was "Oh myGod, it's Tintin! And it looks just like the comic, albet bit more computer-y and slightly more realistic, but still, it's recognizably - OHMYGOD IT'S THE THOMPSON TWINS AND THEY'RE BEING SILLY! AND THEY'RE GOING TO BE IN THE MOVIE AND SAY "TO BE PRECIS - CAPTAIN HADDOCK! CAPTAIN HADDOCK! THAT WAS TOTALLY CAPTAIN HADDOCK! CAPTAIN HADDOCK IS GOINGTOBEINTHEMOVIEANDHE'SGOINGTOSAYBLISTERINGBARNICLESANDOMFGBBQYAYYYYYYYYYYY!

TL;DR version: Amnesia and bad continuity have left Wonder Woman unsure of her abilities, so she asks the JLA to monitor her next 12 missions to make sure she's still fit for duty.

This issue, it's Green Lantern's turn to observe. Take equal parts Twilight Zone and Dr. Strangelove, add a dash of Renaissance Faire, and you get Wonder Woman #214, "Wish Upon A Star!" (approx. 6 pages worth of panels from a 20-page story)
